Press On Nails Vs Dip Powder Nails

Press on nails vs dip powder nails.

We offer both options for you to choose from here at Tipstastic Nails and Beauty

The choice between these 2 DIY options comes down mainly to personal preference but here you can find out more information on both.

Both press on nails and dip powder nails have their own advantages and also disadvantages.

The choice ultimately comes down to individual preferences, lifestyle and desired results.

  1. Application.

Press On nails are generally easier to apply than dip powder nails.

Press On nails require you to prep your nails properly and then adhere each nail with glue or tabs depending on how long you wish the nails to last.

Dip Nails require you to apply multiple layers of liquid and powder to your natural nails. (How to apply press on nails and how to apply dip nails are covered on our other blog posts)

  2. Equipment needed.

Both press on nails and dip powder nails require similar tools for application.

File, Cuticle pusher, alcohol/acetone, dust brush, cuticle nippers (optional)

Both are suitable for at home use and neither require uv or led nail lamps.

  3. Press on nails are removed more easily than dip nails and are also reusable.

Dip nails require filing and soaking off in acetone. Press on nails can be removed with a glue remover or by soaking in a water and oil mix.

  4. Variety of designs.

Press on nails can give you a wide variety of designs, shapes, lengths etc.

With dip nails you can use dip on natural nails or over nail tips giving you shape and length options, but you can't have designs with dip nails how you can with press on nails. Unless of course you are a nail technician (or artist) and are happy to use other products (Gel Polish with nail lamp, nail art products, nail varnish, nail art brushes etc)

  5. Odour.

Press on nails will have no application odour. Dip Liquids can sometimes produce an odour

  6. Press on nails are more time saving and convenient to apply. Whereas dip nails although not reusable can last longer for each single wear

Ease of application winner: Press on nails

Ease of removal winner: Press on nails

Variety winner: Press on nails

Longevity winner: Dip nails

Reusability factor: Press on nails
